Lucy was delighted to attend a celebration at the Royal Institution for the Stephen Hawking Fellows, recipients of grants from the EPSRC to support the next generation of researchers in cosmology and theoretical physics as well as the underpinning sciences. This landmark scheme supported outstanding young scientists to further their research in their chosen field as well as giving them the chance to engage with outreach to schools and other educational providers.

It was a great day of celebration of these brilliant young scientists and their achievements in the field. It was wonderful to hear them describe the impact this award had on their lives and work – and the many innovative and creative ways they had found to further the public understanding of science by working with diverse groups of many ages. Lucy would like to thank the UKRI for pioneering this impactful scheme under the name of Stephen Hawking and giving these dedicated and impressive scientists a chance to pursue their research at UK universities.
